Ten Thousand Trees and Counting
How families restore ecosystems one native tree at a time.
Asha, 9, walked ninety minutes each way to a school with no books. Bipin, 11, had dropped out to herd goats after his father fell ill. Sunita, 13, was weeks from leaving school for good. A Larkspur scholarship pilot found all three in the same valley — and paid fees, uniforms, meals, and supplies for the full year.
Asha now reads at grade level and leads the morning assembly. Bipin's family received a food stipend so he could return to class, where he tops mathematics. Sunita stayed — and mentors six younger girls through our after-school club. Their teachers report attendance above 95% across the pilot cohort.
Scholarships work best inside strong schools, so every award is paired with Bright Classrooms funding: teacher training, libraries, and meals for the whole class. No child learns alone — and no scholarship succeeds in an empty classroom.
